In 1991 I finished my study at the HKU ( Ho¬geschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht) as an inte¬rior designer, furniture designer and designer of public spaces. Almost immediately after getting my diploma, I completely dedicated myself in professional painting.

In the first 10 years of my career as an artist, I have mainly been concentrating on the figura¬tive arts. Main source of inspiration has been the human body. I discovered the connections of the measurements of the human body and I noticed that as well in nature, as in human proportions they’re experienced as ‘beautiful’.
My works are influenced by the Fibonacci numbers (0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, etc.), geometry, abstract lines and new artistic textures.

These paintings are partly inspired by the works of Daan van Golden who I for a long time admire. I was already working on this series when I visited an exhibition where his works were shown.

Layers of paint in geometric shapes, painted on top of each other, some are transparent and others solid. By removing (partly) the layers of paint the underlaying layers become visible again by using this technique.

The Labyrinths series is a research concerning the life of my father. In the last years of his life I tried to write down his life-story. I wondered who he had met and the influences these persons had on his life and eventually on my life. After he died in 2013 I continued on these series.
